The brewery
today
The brewery is situated in a picturesque place of
Westerwald forest among the mountains of Rothaar; 90
kilometers north of Frankfurt.
The water from Westerwald springs lends Herborner
beer a unique character.

The eastern facade of the brewery preserved its 125 year
old appearance.
The
brewery is easy to reach due to a nearby federal road
and a highway.
Beer is brewed from the best sorts of malt and hop
according to traditional methods in a special boiler
made of cooper. |
In
special premise the beer gets mature and receives its
unmistakable and sparkling character. |
The
beer is being filtered here and runs along the conduits
of stainless steel to the bottling line. After every use
the tanks and the conduits are automatically washed and
disinfected.
The
mature and filtered beer is bottled. The productivity of
the bottling line is 15.000 bottles within an hour.
The labels are
automatically attached. |
In
order to preserve the beer from a premature ageing the
special equipment is used to remove the air off the
bottles. |
Alcohol
is carefully removed in order to receive a nonalcoholic
beer called “Drive”. The pure taste of Pilsner beer
is retained. |
After
the inspection of the brewery the guests are invited to
taste Herborner beer and to have a snack.
The
bottles are palletized according to sorts and are ready
to be delivered. |
Empty
bottles are waiting for the next use. |
The
weekend of the first week of September is traditionally
“The Open-door Day”. |
This
day is equally popular among the young and the old. |
Traditionally
the festivity is accompanied by a well known pop-group
“Aartal-Echo”. |
